About us
At The Luck Group, we believe nature has the power to change lives.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on connecting youth and families with the power of the outdoors—where nature, new skills, and meaningful experiences come together through fishing, archery, hiking, camping, shooting sports and conservation. We do more than teach activities, we help build confidence, ignite purpose, and strengthen self-belief so participants can thrive both outdoors and in everyday life.
Our mission advances equity in outdoor access by providing inclusive, hands-on nature experiences that support youth development, family connection, and community wellness.
We’re here to pass down knowledge, spark curiosity, and connect generations to nature’s healing power — one trail, cast, and campfire at a time. Join us in building stronger, healthier communities through the great outdoors.
What we do
"Opening the outdoors for every family"
We believe nature should be for everyone — not just a few. That’s why we connect all youth, BIPOC and underprivileged youth and families with life-changing outdoor experiences like hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, hiking, shooting sports and conservation.
Through hands-on programs, dedicated volunteers, and powerful partnerships, we do more than just explore the wild — we build confidence, teach skills, and spark lifelong connections to the outdoors.

Why support the luck group
"Closing the nature gap, one family at a time"
Many youth and families in under-resourced communities lack equitable access to safe, welcoming outdoor spaces and nature-based learning opportunities. Structural barriers such as limited proximity to parks and green spaces, lack of reliable transportation, financial constraints related to outdoor equipment, and limited exposure to outdoor recreation prevent participation. In addition, fear of wildlife, safety concerns, and lack of knowledge about where and how to begin further widen this “Nature Gap.”
This gap extends beyond recreation. Limited access to nature is associated with disparities in physical health, mental wellness, academic engagement, social connection, and career exposure in natural resource and outdoor industries.
Barriers Experienced by Participants Include:
-
Limited access to parks, trails, and green spaces
-
Lack of transportation to outdoor locations
-
Financial barriers to outdoor gear and equipment
-
Safety concerns, including fear of wildlife or unfamiliar environments
-
Lack of mentorship or community participation opportunities
-
Limited time, planning resources, or outdoor knowledge
Organizational Response
The Luck Group addresses these barriers by providing structured, inclusive outdoor education and mentorship programming. Programs are designed to remove cost, access, and knowledge barriers by providing transportation support, equipment, trained mentors, and guided experiences. Participants engage in activities such as fishing, archery, hiking, camping, kayaking, hunting, and conservation education regardless of prior experience.
Beyond recreation, programming focuses on measurable developmental outcomes including skill acquisition, confidence building, leadership development, and family engagement.
Evidence-Based Benefits of Nature Access

Equity & Long-Term Vision
Access to nature is a community health, education, and equity issue. The Luck Group is committed to expanding access to outdoor spaces and experiences so that all youth and families—regardless of zip code, income level, or prior exposure—can benefit from the life-changing impact of time spent outdoors.
How we do it
"Together, we make the outdoors possible"
With support from corporate sponsors, small businesses, community organizations, grant funding, fundraising initiatives, and individual donors, The Luck Group provides youth and families with the equipment, instruction, and mentorship necessary to safely and confidently participate in outdoor learning experiences.
The organization prioritizes engagement with communities that have historically experienced limited access to outdoor recreation and environmental education opportunities, including populations that have been underrepresented, underserved, and historically excluded from participation in the outdoor industry.
Program Delivery Approach
Experiential, Hands-On Learning
Participants develop outdoor competency through guided, real-world experiences including fishing, hiking, camping, archery, and conservation education. All activities are delivered in structured, safety-focused, and supportive learning environments designed to build confidence and transferable life skills.
Family-Centered Engagement
Programming is intentionally designed to strengthen family relationships by creating shared outdoor experiences. These experiences help establish healthy traditions, encourage intergenerational participation, and reinforce long-term wellness behaviors.
Barrier Reduction & Future Pathway Development
Through strategic partnerships with volunteers, industry partners, and community sponsors, The Luck Group expands access to outdoor participation while increasing exposure to career pathways in natural resources, environmental sciences, skilled trades, and outdoor recreation industries. Programming also reinforces college and workforce readiness through mentorship, leadership development, and skill-based learning.
Long-Term Community Benefit
By removing access barriers and increasing exposure to outdoor education, The Luck Group supports healthier families, stronger youth development outcomes, and expanded economic and career opportunities for participating communities.
