A Legacy That Became a Mission
The Luck Group was founded on family, a love for the outdoors, and a deep commitment to serving others.
For Sidney D. Tyler, some of life's most meaningful lessons were learned outdoors alongside his father, Sidney “Luck” Tyler. Fishing trips, hunting adventures, time in nature, and service to others created memories that would ultimately become the foundation of something much larger.
“Luck,” as he was known to family and friends, was more than an outdoorsman. He was a devoted husband and father, a Deacon, and a dedicated firefighter whose service was recognized with the 30-Year Golden Service Axe.
When Sidney “Luck” Tyler passed away in 2014, he left behind more than memories. He left a legacy of family, service, knowledge, and love for the outdoors.
In 2017, Sidney D. Tyler and his wife, Altheia Tyler, transformed that legacy into action by founding The Luck Group in his honor.
What began with family traditions became a mission to help more youth and families experience the outdoors—especially those who may not have traditionally had access to outdoor recreation, equipment, instruction, or mentorship.
Today, The Luck Group introduces participants to fishing, archery, hiking, camping, conservation, outdoor skills, mentoring, and wellness-centered experiences that build confidence, encourage connection, and create memories that can last for generations.
Passing It Forward
What Sidney “Luck” Tyler shared with his family did not end with one generation.
The Luck Group continues that tradition by helping youth and families learn outdoor skills, experience new activities, connect with mentors, and create traditions of their own.
Every first cast, first bullseye, first hike, first campsite, and first outdoor adventure represents another opportunity for knowledge to be passed forward.
That is the legacy behind The Luck Group.
